Croatia is a country of extraordinary natural beauty. From the turquoise waters of the Adriatic Sea and the sun-drenched islands of Hvar and Vis, to the lush forests of Gorski Kotar and the waterfalls of Plitvice Lakes—our nation has long been known as a European gem of biodiversity and natural heritage. Millions of visitors each year come to explore ancient cities like Dubrovnik, hike the Dinaric Alps, or photograph Game of Thrones locations under the clear blue sky
Global warming is leaving its mark across the continent. Iconic ski events like the FIS race at Medvednica Mountain—just 30 minutes from Zagreb—have been removed from the calendar due to a lack of snow. Summers are hotter, rivers run lower, and weather extremes are more frequent. This is not just a warning—it’s already a reality. And the same patterns are unfolding across Europe, from melting glaciers to record droughts.
While the challenges are great, Croatia also holds part of the solution. With over 2,500 hours of sunshine annually in many regions, a high share of renewable hydropower, and expanding capacities in wind and solar, our country is naturally positioned to lead the green transition in Southeastern Europe.
At the Green Energy Fair Zagreb, our mission is to accelerate the region’s shift toward a low-carbon, energy-independent, and ecologically balanced future by uniting the world’s most innovative technologies with local opportunity, leadership, and commitment.
